  1. I feel that my study habits and more quality time could of have made an better impact on me, because i felt that last semester I did good, but i felt that I could of did good as far as grade wise, studytime, and also quality time outside of school.

  2. Honestly if you want my honest opinion i think that if convocation was lets say about 10-15 minutes long dat would make it a plus and if we got less homework in every class that would make it a plus.

  3. Well Gentlemen,
All I can comment is "If a college Degree was easy eveyone would have one."

  4. Hi. I feel that if I could have somehow found a way to balance my personal life with my college life I could have did much better. Also my study habits are horrible so that also had a major impact on me.

David:I heard spending time outside of school is a major stress reliever, so I agree with that one.

Andrew: Lol..I dont think anyone likes convocation and I agree it is to long. It's really the dressing up thing that gets me, but we have to do it.

  5. I think i could have improved my study habits a lot. That has always been a problem for me and it does not help that I tend to procrastinate a lot.

David: I definitely have the same problem. My grades turned out good but I know I did not really put forth my best effort.

Andrew: I definitely could have been ok with less time in convocation. It wasn't all bad but I do not feel that less time will just crush my college experience.

Felisha: I do feel that balance is important. We learn that quickly our freshman year because our parents are no longer holding our hands.

  7. I think I really need to manage my time.. If i manage my time better this semester I should make better grades than last semester..

Raven I agree with you but I google studying habits and I think the information that came up will help me alot

Andrew thats funny I'm going to have to come talk to you about my studying habits

Using my time wisely, less procrastination, going to the library and writing center more often could have made some Deltas a plus. The little time that I did spend in the writing center improved my writing a lot. When I should have been studying, I chose to lay down, watch tv, or sleep. I need to spend more time in the library because it's a peaceful place, something I don't have often at home.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I did not have any problems last semester. The thing was that I didnt not manage my time well enough. This semester I will most defenitely manage my time better and not procrastinate. Using my time wisely and utilzing what is there for me will help make some deltas a plus.

Chillia: Managing my time was a problem for me last semester also, but we should stay on each other backs and help each other out also that we have several classes together.

Raina: I agree with you. I did the exact thing last semester and the library is a very peaceful and comfortable place to get your work completed. Compared to other HBCU's in Louisiana we have a wonderful library from the appearance and the resources inside of it. For example SUBR, the library there is old and it stinks really bad the appearance makes you not want to enter so we have a plus here at DU and we should use the library as much as we can.

  10. I think that I should have met with me teachers one on one more often. These meetings would have allowed me to understand the class material better causing me to have better grades. But overall I was satisfied with last semester's performance.

i think that i could have found a better balance between school work and my social life .

Raven: I have the same problem you have as far as procrastination , i always get my work done it just takes me a while to get to it

Andrew: I agree convocation is very tedious , but i guess it is essential in some ways i think it would be easier to deal with if the only time we had to go was when there were important presentations not just things that we are going to hear about again in DU.

Managing my time better and not being so lazy definetly could have made both chemistry lab and chemistry class go from a minus to a plus. Procrastination nearly killed me in those classes as well as in English.

David Jones: You are right it is necessary to venture out and explore the city and enjoy both aspects of classes. Thats something I regret not doing last semester but I'm ready now!

Andrew: Yeah convocation is pretty pointless... You shoulda tried to get an 11 oclock on thursday lol.

Cherise: I agree. Im definetly gonna stay on top of my work and check in with my teachers on a regular so that I dont have any surprises with my grades.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Like a lot people, if I had to decided not to be such a procrastinator and do more of my work in a timely fasion, I could have had more time to do fun college kid stuff.

Andrew: I too think convocation is a waste of time.
Lisa and Raven: I also need to stop with all the procrastination.
Cherise: Meeting with my teachers more probably would have helped me more too. I think I needed to have developed better relationships with them.

  15. The thing is that we're here for a purpose, to absorb all the information possible for the success of our careers. For me this meant to be focused and to work hard to complete all of my assignments no matter how much time it took and when I had to do it. Personally, that wasn't hard because I made my work my priority so that I could relax at its completion.

  16. I could have been lessed stressed out about school last semester if I would have made an effort to have personal time. I never really went out and explored the Crescent City. I plan to meet more people who know the city and explore it with them.

PROCRASTINATION was my worst enemy last semester. I stayed up until 5 AM many nights and I really felt tired and cranky a lot. This semester I will definitely make better use of my time. I will work hard to get a head start on all projects and finish them before they are actually due.

    @ ANDREW TADROS:

I really don't think fifty minutes of useful information is going to kill any one of us. I learned some really important things in Convocation like info about finanacial aid and academic probation that I did not know about.

    @ CHERISE THOMAS:

I was also satisfied with last semester because I did make a 4.0. The only problem was that I had to stress myself out to get it.

    @ RAINA ROBERTS:

I agree that the library is a GREAT place to study. Its quiet and peaceful and everyone is working and I feel productive when I am in the library. It really helped me during finals week.

  17. Studying was a problem that I had to deal with my first semester. I didn’t have a problem studying it was the simple fact that I was not studying the right way. I would sometimes study too much and other times I wouldn’t study enough. I could have also spent more of my time doing work and less time with friends.

@Lisa i definitely agree with you on founding a better balance between school work and social life because this was a problem i encountered along the way.

@Cherise i understand where your coming from because at times i felt as though I should have talk to my professors when i didnt understand what was being taught....

    ReplyDelete
  18. My grades last semester were bad because of my study habbits. Studying was always a problem for me either i wouldn't really understand it or just didn't know how to study. I also feel that could have been more serious about my work.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I had two big problems last semester one bein that i procrastinated to much and the second being that i never went to class. Knowing that my grades where affected by these problems i know to avoid them. I need to start on my work as soon as i recive it. As far as going to class that will not be a problem this semester because brittany is gone (always was in her room sleeping.

I agree with Cherise i belive if i would have taken the time out to speak with my professors one on one then i would have been in better shape, also the writing center would have help improve my writing skills.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I did not have much negative things last semester because I had great grades, but this semester...I need to not be comfortable. I got used to making good grades and kind of think I am falling off. Procrastination is not a habit I need to pick up.

@Brandi: What are you planning to do different this semester?

@Tandraer: What are some places you want to go to down here?

    ReplyDelete
  21. One delta that I made a plus I would definitely say would be my mathematic skills. I was once a horrible math student and now I would say that I'm intermediate. This change did not come easily; it took a lot of long hours of studying and major endurance but I finally got it together.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Time management was a big problem for me last semester. So I believe if I am able to commit to prioritizing my time wisely according what is not only most important but also what is relevant at the time. It will enable me to utilize my time beter, maintain good grades, and enjoy college.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Raven, Felisha and Raina,
I am glad you found some things that you could improve. How will you do that?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I see that time management, and balance are huge factors. Would more worshops of differnt ways to combat those problems, be helpful??? Any suggestions???

    ReplyDelete
  25. Rayon Landry
Last semester I was as commited to anything as I could have been and I really dind't care about much. I believe that if I were commited I would have don emuch better.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I agree with Andrew Tadros because I felt like I sometimes had to much homework and I would be overloaded.
Raven I think I also could have improve my study habbits because I nevered study.
I agree with Felisha becasue if I had been ble to balance school and personal time instead just enjoy persoal time I would have did better.

  27. My name is Rayon Landry. The response above is mine.

  28. I think I did good last semester, but I think I can improve my study habits to do better this semester.

Andrew Tadros: I feel convocation is useful. Some topics might seem a little crazy, but it informs us of new information.

Chillia: managing time was a problem for me too. Sometimes I hot distracted by things that was more interesting to me.

Kimyana Teno: I started to study the wrong way too. When most people start college they learn new things about themselves.

  29. LaJoyua Porter

My biggest problem is time management. I may write things thhat are to be done down but, tend to overlook them. Also, I believe socializing is another one of my problems.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Aeryka Harvey

I think my biggest downfall might have been procrastination. I had the tendency to do things at the last minute, but I am working on it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. A plus for this semester was that I made it through the first semester. Many people doubted that since I was going to be in a new environment away from my comfort zone, I wasn't going to make it. But I sure proved them wrong.
A delta would my study habits, my use of time, and my lack of energy. This was a really hard semester for me seeing that family problems back home really pulled my attention away from my school work. I was so in tuned and fixed on making sure that my family was okay back home I forgot about me and the reason that I came to college.
Although I could go on and on about what I should've, could've, would’ve done. The important thing is that I recognized where I need to improve myself and ways and I am working diligently this semester to improve my bad habits and excel like I know I can. Though home will always be on my mind I am learning to let adults be adults and deal with their own problems.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @ LaJoyua Porter & Aeryka Harvey

I concur with you. This was a problem last semester for me as well. What I found this semester that works for me is to only write down what I could realistically do on that day. So for instance washing clothes although I may have great intentions on washing them after dinner more than like it may be realistic for me to wash them on the weekend because I know I have more free time. Also planning your day minute by minute can help, it may sound ludicrous but it works, it helps you to know where you need at every moment of the day so that you don’t get side tracked like I often do.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I agree with many of you, specifically, Raina and Felisha. As for Andrew...Ms. Rutherford said it best..lol
Although i had a relatively good semester, grades and all, none of us are perfect, meaning there is also room for improvement. I think to make this semester better, i may actually try utilizing the writing center, and most certainly gain good use of the match center. In addition, i plan to continue to use my time wisely and find a healthy balance between school, my job, my family, my community,my social life, and my personal time. I understand this is the easiest semester to slack off and get lazy, which is why i motivate myself to work twice as hard.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Procrastination was always something I always did last semester and I paid for it. Since this semester I have tried to develope the strength to do everything early and in advance. After a long time of procrastination you get built up with a lot of work and pretty soon you feel like you have loads and loads of work when initially if you started to work on it earlier it wouldn't be so bad.

Another part of me was my study habits were some what okay but wasn't to the best of my ability. I was told for each credit you should at least spend three hours of study time for 3 credits of class each week.

I feel as though my study habit and my procrastination is something that i could have changed from last semester. I didn't care as much about my certain class. With critical analysis i have noticed these characteristics.

@Charles... I fully agree with you. My procrastination has been one of my biggest problems.

@ LaJoyua Porter.... To work on time management it is good to write the things you need to do down and organize it.

@Andrew ... I agree convocation is too long for no reason, but it is something that we have to deal with

    ReplyDelete
  37. I believe my study habits could have been better. I studied but not as hard as I should have. My goal ths semester is to develop better study habits and not wait until the last minute to do things I thinks thats called procrastination which something I think I'm not th only one that does. Time management is another thing that I need to work on last semester I felt like there was never enough time in the day to get things done. This semester I plan to use my time more wisely

    ReplyDelete
  38. @ Andrew..I always think convocation is a waste of time I think first semester it could have been better and somethings were useful but I believe that now that we are in our second emester as freshamn we should have it by now or we"re not gonna make it...if you look at the g.p.a's from last semester only 8 ppl had 4.0's

@ Charles: I agree with the procrastination thing I think just about everyone has done that and now realize its time to buckle down and get to work but hopefully its not to late for some.

@ everyone I agree with you all as far as procrastination tats something I see that everyone has had a problem.

  39. I believe one delta plus of mine would be balancing important tasks , such as , studying , meeting with my advisors , and also buying all my books needed wouldve helped me have a better fall semester. I would also add a delta plus to my biology studying .

    ReplyDelete
  40. @ Charles D. Hill : i fully agree with your statement i have the same problem which resulted in me being lazy .

@ Chillia : I totally agree , my time has been thrown all over the place which resulted in me being unorganized .

@ Raven Hardy : I also must say that i have poor study habits , which is common but i tend to increase them for my grades sake .

@ Craishan I also feel as though a plus of mine is atleast getting my books on time although my time management isn't that great.

@Raven studying is essential to classroom success so I'd wanna work on that if I were you!

  42. I think that accepting responsibility for my actions from now on will allow me to have less delta's in the long run. I can't change the past, but I do have a say on my future.

I think time management was a huge problem for a lot of people, so know that you're not alone and plan to make up for last semester, this semester!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think I can improve up on my study habits just a little bit better to improve my overall GPA to get into the 3.5 area. If I just put a extra hour into my study habits than I will probaly gain a better GPA.

I agree with Andrew that convocation is a waste of time for college. I mean half on that stuff they talk about should be printed out and given during DU class. Dressing out is outrageous. For what. We can just go there and receive our grade.

    ReplyDelete
  45. This is LaMegan Smith...

I can honestly say that I did okay during the fall semester. My study habits have improved and I am still learning how to manage my time.

I agree with Tandraer when she says that she didnt get a chance to explore the Crescent City. This semester I will continue to improve my study habits, time management, and I will socialize and get around a little more.

My biggest issue last semester was procrastination. I would always put work off until the last minute and do more interesting but less important things before it.

  47. Lyniece Catalan admits...

I could have improved my study habits a whole lot. I'm not used to studying, because I usually grasp concepts when the are taught, but in college I guess thers no other way around studying.

  48. I think the plus/ delta would be a plus if most took college serious it's not easy getting a degee and most people don't try hard enough to improve thier grades or do what need to be done to make it threw college the plus/delta would be a plus if studing was improved through out people

    ReplyDelete
  49. I agree with alannia that I did okay like the best that i can do but i feel to believe that if i improve my study habits it'll be better

    ReplyDelete
  50. 1.) I think practical thinking would help me make it a plus because if I would have thought practically like I should have been did, I wouldn’t have failed basically my first semester. I should have used the common sense I have to say well Lashonda what are you wasting your time for. You should be doing what you have to do to better your life. So practical thinking would most definitely be the answer to that.

    ReplyDelete
  51. i agree with Lauren. i am a procrastinator, and I think if I do my work in a orderly fashion i'll be good.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I defintley agree with you Jalicia.
As many of you keep reiterating, i think time management is an area we all can improve in.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I really didn't do as well as I should have because I didn't have enough time to do my studies. I also took on to much activities on campus, and from that I'm learning to make time for my school work, because if I can make time for a party, Borboun, or just being around campus chilling and clowning with friends I can make time to do my Homework and/or studies.

To All: I think we all have fallen victim to time management and our biggest friend of all Procrastination. If we can find a method that would eliminate the problems such as: convocation which is too long for a non-credit course.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Shakira Hunt Said...

Well like a few of my classmates.. I to am a procrastinator.. i feel like this could have been a plus as well as a my GPA.. it was like after study habits everything involving my grades went down hill.

@Jouya I agree wit you totally.. time management is a big problem that i had in my life i all of my endeavors.

@Brandi my study skills we minimal my whole life.. in high school as well as middle school, so I totally agree with you.

@Garion i took on many responsibilities in my organization and it conflicted with my study schedule alot of the times so i agree with you.
And I feel like if i could take care of that then I could devote more time to studying.

    * Like Craishan said I should have put more time into studying. That was a major issue for me. I also put to much pressure on myself which only made me stress more.

@Shakira and Brandi in high school studying was minimal in high school so when i came to college I had to learn effective studying.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Less socailizing and using more of my free time in order to study and complete assignments would have made last semester more successful.

agreeing with andrew and zachary, i also thing that covocation is a waste of time. We hear the same things that we hear during DU class.

alexandria spoke about ti9me management. Completely agree that many feel like they could have improved.

charles mentions procrastination. I feel like i work best under pressure, yet waiting to the last minute is too risky

    ReplyDelete
  57. I could have spent more time working on my study skills. Studying has never really been necessary for me in the past, but in college it is a must.

@Raina, I believe that procrastination is a big problem for many of us . Prioritizing your time will help.

    ReplyDelete
  58. ReplyDelete
  60. andrew i totally agree with your logic about convocation, ten of fifteen minutes of pep talk is all we need

    ReplyDelete
  61. mikal i agree that we should meet our professors more but most of our professors are gone so much that we barely see them in class so its almost impossible to me them one on one
