  1. 1. leadership has been shared in many similarities such as friends, family, school, and also among professors. leadership has been profound as commitement, honor, and pride. also it has been defined as being powerful.

2.I mean it matters, but you have to just think about what it is and what it stands for.and how it works.

  2. 1.Leadership share many similarities and difference. Some similarities share are women, men,and school.

    2. Yes it matters how people define leadership because many people can say they are leaders but can lead yo in the wrong way.

@ david I agree what the fact that people have to think about what leadership is and how it works.

  3. 1. To define leadership would be broad and unspecific. I believe that leadership is the stance that one person makes towards an unjustice. Now this may be too narrow but the definition is so broad I could only pinpoint one. I can agree that the way leadership is viewed today is totally different from the way it was viewed 30 years ago. For example, 30 years ago leadership was mainly linked to familial structure and movements pertaining to civil rights. Whereas today leadership is being viewed in a political manner.

    2. I believe that leadership in any way that it is defined doesn't matter because in end it all refers to the same objective.

  4. 1.) I agree with Xandra. Leadership has definitely changed. I define leadership as taking a position to direct others or set positive examnples. Today leadership is not only setting positive examples but negative as well. Also today leadership is being viewed as a political manner.

2.) I dont think it really matters if leadership is defined because it all goes back to what u stand for.

    1. many people have their own ways to define leadership...a lot of times the definitions are pretty much the same just worded a little differently. However, I do believe more passionate, dead-on responses come from people who have been in leadership positions

    2. I don't think the way you specifically define it means annything just as long as it means something to you and you live up to it

  6. 1.What are some similarities and difference in the way leadership has been defined?
Leadership is something that many people have their own opinion s on what the actual meaning of leadership is. Though often defined as the person is charge leadership has its similarities and differences. As Chillia stated leadership has some similarities in women, men, and school and where I agree with that I think that the different types of roles that leadership plays in a situation is different. For example if there is a family a child, and men, and a women the parents are supposed to be the leaders of the child not vice versa.

2.Does it really matter how you define leadership? Explain and defend your position.
It does matter how I define leadership because I feel that often leadership is given to those who don’t deserve it, and sometime when people are given power they become a totally different person but in a bad way. I don’t feel that everyone is suppose to lead there are some people that are made to follow its just about knowing your place and not using your role for evil and manipulation like many leaders in the world do.

    ReplyDelete
  7. 1. Leadership positions differ in many ways. For example look at Obama and look at Hitler. They were both leaders but you can tell by their actions that their leadership skills are not the same.

    2. It does matter how you define leadership because not all leadership is positive. Some define a leader as someone in charge while another may define it as someone who has done something for others. I feel that leadership shows strength, courage, and honesty. It is so important to follow leadership in this way.

    ReplyDelete
  8. 1. A similarity among the definitions of leadership would be that it's a process of influencing the activities of others. A difference among the definitions is that leadership is the process of making sense of what other people are doing.
    2. I think it does matter how you define leadership. In order for people to gain knowledge from a person, they must have a clear definition of what should actually be expected.
    @ Andrew,
I agree with your reason for why the definition of leadership matters

    ReplyDelete
  9. 1. Leadership is has it serotype and consequence too. The similaries of leadership is that you have to be a leader and stand up for your team, learn from your team, and progress your team forward. For example, Diddy and Donald Thump, which one has the better leadership skills of sucees.

    2. It really doesm't matter how you define leadership because it's how you think leadership is to you.

I agree Ellissa because again she makes clear points on the subject of leadership. She gives supportive examples of leadership.

I agree with david of what the fact that people have to think about what leadership is and how it works.

    ReplyDelete
  10. 1. There are many similarites and differences dealing with leadership. Leadership postions in different ways, it may be positive or negative. Hopefully it is positive. The type of leadership and they way a person leads others may be a difference.

2.Yes it does matter how leadership is defined. Some people that call themselves leaders steer others in the wrong direction. For example high school students with peer pressure. I believe that great leaders do not try to manipulate others in an evil way, helps that person to gain knowledge, and strenth them in any way that they can.

@ chillia I agree with you about there having bad leaders. I used to look up to my older cousins, but me knowing right from wrong I didn't let them lead me in the wrong direction

  11. 1.In the text leadership is defined in so many different ways. Leadership can be defined as power, authority, management, administration, control and supervision. One defined leadership as the behavior of an individual and another define it as exercised when people mobilize.

2.It doesn’t matter how you define leadership because everyone has their own personal opinion on Leadership and it can be defined in a majority of different ways.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 1. A similarity in the way leadership has been defined is that it deals with being able to influence the thoughts and actions of others. A difference is that some definitions deal with authority, and others don't think leaders exercise complete authority.
    2. I don't think it really matters how leadership is defined. People can misuse the word and label something leadership that really isn't all day. Millions of words are used improperly all the time; in the case of leadership, in the end what's important is the impact of the action, not what you call it.

Andrew: I like how you answered the first question.
Felisha: I agree, it all goes back to what you stand for, not what people call it.
Xandra: I also think that what leadership means is evolving over time.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 1. One similiarity I found is that all the definitions of leadership focus on one thing: achieving the goal of a group. Another similairity that I found in the definitions of leadership is the word "individual". It appears and several of the definitions. In these definitions, an individual is a leader and the behavior of the individual leader is the most important aspect. The opposing side of that is that in some of the other defintions, leadership is based around purpose, values, and organized groups; as opposed to one single person. Another difference is that the older definitions such as the ones from the 50s and the 70s, are less complex than the definitions from the 90s.

2.The way a person defines leadership is important. The thing that is not important is what leadership means to each of us. For each person, leadership holds a different meaning. In my opinion, leadership is having the skills to effieciently and fairly govern a group of people, while keeping the best interests and goals of the group, at the forefront. One of my classmates may have a different defition of leadership. This does not mean that my definiton is right and there definiton is wrong or vice-versa. It simply means that we have different points of view when it comes to leadership.

    @ Xandra Harston

What is the objective that all leadership refers to?

    @ Kimyana Teno

I totally agree that everyone has a different opinion of leadership. It is not a word that has one universal definiton.

    @ Lauren Lemonious

I didn't think of leadership as evolving over time. That is definitely a piece that I will add to my defintion.

    1. I would define leadership as standing up for what one believes in and empowering and guiding other people to stand up for what they believe in. Leadership is producing a change.
    2. Yes, it does matter how one defines leadership. Depending on their definition, it shows whether or not one would be an effective leader.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 1. Though there are nuances in the definitions of leadership, the commonality between them is that a person has to take a definite position and be prepared to guide.

    2. It does matter how leadership is defined, bevause without definiton leadership is just a word. It needs to have a specific meaning behind it. If there is no common ground between the definitions of leadership than the idea of leadership becomes unclear and abstract, as opposed to something that can be grasped and understood.

  16. What are some similarities and difference in the way leadership has been defined?
Some similarities in which the way leadership has been defined is that of all include progression. A leader has many forms and takes on many shapes as they attempt to lead their followers in a direction in which they will benefit from. Differences are present depending on the strength of the leader, the mission in which they must lead, and the difficultness of the objective.

    2. Does it really matter how you define leadership? Explain and defend your position.
No, it does not matter how you define leadership. Leadership occurs in many different forms, so there can not be one direct definition of leadership, a trait that can change instantly.

#1) There are many similarities and differences that are combined to formulate the definition of leadership, but it is all dependent upon the position a leader is obligated to fulfill.

#2) It absolutely matters how someone defines leader, because someone may define a leader as a person that only does certain things, but those things may not be core requirements for a leader to possess.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 1. I think that similarities in leaders around the world are that they want their followers to look up to them and go along with their ideas. Differences in leadership are the different strategies and views of each leader.

2.The way leadership is defined is essential. In order for someone to become a leader, they need to know the correct way to go about being a leader.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 1. In my opinion there is one foundational definition of the word leadership however depending on the person they may have a different understanding or a different perception of it.

    2. Defining leadership is important because not everything is an act of leadership and by setting standards it is easier to separate actual leadership from false instances of leadership.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Leadership:
1.Is taking the role when no one else does or just having the courage to be different.

    2. Yes because no leader is the same. the purpose of being a leader is too be different...

    ReplyDelete
  21. 1.) What are some similarities and differences in the way leadership has been defined?
Leadership has been defined in many different ways. I say leadership is about the ability to lead not just for you but for others. To initiate change. Most say it’s about capacity, that the leaders must use their expertise as a starting point to encourage dialogue between all levels of decision making. Everyone defines leadership as a different thing, or as they see it.

2.) Does it really matter how you define leadership. Explain and defend your position.
Yes, it matters because good leaders bring order. If you don’t know what a good leader is then how can you pick one, to even run your country. Clearly a lot of people think President Obama is a great leader because they elected him to be the President of the United States. So it should always matter how leadership is defined, and how you see a leader.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 1. some poeple define a leader by the things they get accomplished in a given length of time, and some poeple categorize a leader by how many poeple are working "underneath" them. In my opinion a leader is someone who has the ability to inspire a poeple to impact the world in a meaningful, and positive way.

2.I think the definition of leadership varies amongst different groups of poeple. Because being in a position leadership requires so many things it is good if poeple actually took time and described what a leader is and what that means to them.

    ReplyDelete
  23. i really agree with felisha.I think leadershp is also being viewed as a political manner.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 1. Some similarities in leadership is mangement they are alike in some ways but differerent. Like in order to a management you have to be ka leader which shows leadership.

    2. Yes, it's matters how you define leadership because most people l;ook at leadership differently. Some people don't earn rights to be leaders but different cases people look differently.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree with david that it's matteres if you know what leadership staands for and way it's matters.

  26. 1) Leadership is defined in many ways and everyones defintion and outlook is different . I believe when it comes to leadership it has its similarities and differences . But truly . i believe its when one decides to step up and put his / her needs aside and focus on whats best for others.

    2) It does matter in a sense because some poeple would like to be lead in the right way by the right person . I believe people put their trust in President Obama , so that he would do the right thing for the people . But there are people out there who beleive that they are their own person and dont need a leader . Sooo....

    Replies :

@ David : i really agree with you , anyone can be a leader , long as they have commitement to themselves and most importantly to others .

@ Andrew Tadros : I agree with you saying all leadership is different . I beleive its all about the person and what they do , to impact their community or group of followers .

    1. Leadership is describe in different ways depending on the person. However most people can agree that a leader is a person that has the ability to guide others on a certain cause. There is only a difference in how people lead others.

    2. It does matter how leadership is defined. A leader is not someone who simply bosses someone around.

@Clarence Carr... Those are really good examples of how different people describe leaderships. Do you have any more examples??

@Kimyana T.. I dont agree with that statement. It does matter how leadership is describes.

@Doreall Jupiter .... That is exactlly how i feel about leadership

    ReplyDelete
  28. 1) Leadership is the process of influencing others to understand and agree about what needs to be done and how it can be done effectively.

2)I agree with Bridget, that the definition varies too much. I do think that it matters how leadership is described. It needs to be a direct and elaborate definition of what exactly leadership is.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @ Xandra,Felisha and Bridget...i certainly agree.
To all others, very good points made...

    1. Leadership is a broad term that has more than one variation. In all however, it is the ability to effectivelly and efficiently guide and manage with tactfulness. There are several similarities in the differet defenitions, but they all share the common theme of what leaders demonstrate.

    2. Yes it does matter how leadership is defined because people often have a misconception about what it truly means to be a leader. A good leader must be able to follow some form of direction, and if this is done in the most effective manner, then true leadership will determine itself.

    ReplyDelete
  30. 1. Well i think leadership can be defined in many different ways, but i find that there are two ways to lead. One way is by setting an example, carrying yourself in a way that is admirable and respecatable and by also standing on your own when the crowd is wrong. Then you can lead like by being the captain, this would be having a plan of action and execting it with the aid of those who follow you.

    2. I believe it does matter, everyone is not meant to be a leader, there are certain chacteristics that a leader has and with out a definition anyone would think they could lead which can in the end be worse than having no leader.

    @clarence carr
You're right, there are different kinds of leaders and also different ways of leading, so often we get so stuck on the text book explaination of a leader and forget that they come in so many different ways.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Leadership is usually defined as making your own decisions.
I don't think it matter because anyone can be a leader if he or she work hard.

@ Dorian Webster I disagree anyone van be a leader they just have to believe on themself.

@ craishan bridges I agree with you. Manu people are considered a leader as long as someone is looking up to them.

@ cherise Thomas What do you consider to be the right way to be a leader?

    ReplyDelete
  32. 1.Leadership is bascially being responsibile and a good manager. Anyone can be leader as long as you know responsibility.

  33. 2. I dont think you can define leadership as long as you have the basics to leadership.

    1. What are some similarities and difference in the way leadership has been defined?

Some of the similar definitions of how leadership has been defined all include various adjective of greatness..Such as self- motivation, wise, intelligent, creativity , and the ability to accept criticism and responsibility. Some of the differences of the definition would be how the people would identify what may be a leader.

2.Does it really matter how you define leadership? Explain and defend your position.

It doesnt matter how you define leadership. It is defined by the persons experience or what they want to believe it is. Not everybody has had the same experience in leadership.

  35. This is LaMegan Smith...

I agree with Xandra, Felisha, Ekeb, and Dorian. Many people define leadership to be many things. Leadership is a charateristic that you are not born with. As you get older, you learn more. A leader is someone that is a positive example to others and leads and influences others to make good decisions.

It really doesnt matter how you define the word leadership, as long as it doesnt stray away from its true purpose which is to lead others in a positive direction.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 1. Leadership is always defined as someone who leads and does not follow. Someone who is not worried about what other people think. A difference in leadership is that some people confuse leadership with age and with education but someone with not as much education or maturity could be a leader because they know right from wrong.

    2. Leadership matters how you define it because if not, everyone can lead. Some people don't need the responsibility or priveledge in leading someone. A leader should have integrity and do what's right if noone is around!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. 1. Similiarities in the way leadership is defined are someone who is in control or leading. Differences in the way leadership is defined someone moving towards a positive or negative goal, leading by example or by direct words.
    2. No, it does not matter how you define leadership. Leadership has many different definitions. All in which are the correct definition in certain circumstances. For instance, some definitions of leadership include: the activity of leading, the ability to lead, leader - a person who rules or guides or inspires others- all in which are true in different situations.

    >Misha, I agree that a leadership can always be defined as someone who doesn't follow.

1.)Many people define leadership the same and qualities of a good leader similarly. The differences occur depending on the situation like what type of leader you are referring to whether it be a manager at work or a student at school.
2.)It doesnt really matter how you define a leader because that is your personal opinion however you would hope that they have certain qualities that people would look up to and want to follow.

Misha>> Exactly whether a person has street smarts or book smarts they can very well be a leader of something as long as they have followers
    >> CHardai I agree that there is not a single definition of a leader
Lujoya>>> I agree that it depends on the situation as to what a leader should be

  39. 1)Leadership has been defined by many people as someone who others look up to. Some people think these big rap artists are leaders. I only think the rap artists that are doing things for different communities can be leaders.

    2) I don't think it matters how people define leadership because a person may believe they're a leader and another person may believe differently.

What are some similarities and difference in the way leadership has been defined?
    * Similarities are intelligent, hardworking and being able to follow. Differences are leadership will be defined in some way different by one then by another.

Does it really matter how you define leadership? Explain and defend your position.
    * No it does not how you define leadership. Just because I feel President Obama exemplifies leadership in someone's else eyes he may not.

@Garion your example of leadership and if it matters was a good understanding

@Raina I feel the exact same way to number 2

  42. 1)some define leadership and management in the same ways, yet a leader is stronger than a manager and a leader should never steer you wring while a manager isnt in it for the purpose, he's in it for the pay check.

2)i believe it does matter how you define leadership because not all people that have leader qualities are good leaders.

@chardai i agree there is no one definition of a leader.
@lisa there are indeed different perception of what exactly a leader is
@lauren i agree thatthe word leader is often misused.

@ Shei-Duh i agree with you on the fact that not all people with leader qualities are good leaders. A good leader is someone who takes their own advice.

    1. the similarities in how leadership is defined is being the one to stand up and take charge when know one else has the courage or the skills to do so. The difference is a Leader step ups without someone telling them some one who is put in charge is not neccessarily a leader.

    2. Does it matter how you define leadership? yes it does because there is a difference between a leader a follwer and someone who is put in charge. A leader takes charge somone who is put in charge is not neccesssarily a leader just because they are put in charge. For example A leader leads by example and shows you what to do to be better, someone who is out in charge just tells you what to do and oversees they dont take the time to understand and make sure you know what your doing as a leader does

    1. The similarities between the leadership's definition are: the leaders have to be relatable. The differences are that a leader doesn't really have to be labeled as a leader, once a situation arises that one has to handle the issue.

    2. In agreeance with Dorian, I believe that there are certain qualifications and characteristics that leaders have that make them show that ability. Everyone is not a leader. Most have qualifications that can be shown through their everyday life not just when a conflict arises.

  50. leadership can be defined as a person who has followers or it could be people or a person who strays away from the norm.
it doesnt matter how you define it as long as you they are leaders as long as they have followers

  51. sh'nece i dont agree that in the end all things that sound like leadership is leadership because some qualities that leaders have managers have at a job, remember a manager can not be a leader and a leader doesnt have to be a manager

  52. 1. Some similarities in the way leadersjip has been defined is relating it to a group or organization. Other similarities are sharing a common goal or achievement. The differences in the way it is defined is one reason describes it as embodying values and creating the environment so that things can be accomplished.

    2. No, I dont think it maaters how you define leadership because a term can have multiple meanings. most of the time it has common meanings and relate closely to each other. All definitions exhibit that leadership is influential, in directing organizations or groups. Therefore, no term will be sufficientl defined.

    ReplyDelete
  53. leadership has been has a persin who guides a person. it has also be defined differently because people feel a manger is the same as a leader.
2)No, i feel if you can guide somebody and help them become great then your a leader.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions on what leadership truly is. To me, a leader is one that is willing to serve the people that they lead and steers them in the correct paths. Some see people that have followers at leaders, but depending on why they are following may not make them a positive leader.

To me, everyone's definition seems very similar. I just think the thing that matters is if the person is a good/positive leader or if they are a bad/negative leader. Hitler was a leader, but his tactics were negative. So it depends on the characteristics and qualities in the leader.

    ReplyDelete
  55. A similarity of a leader would be influencing the activities of others.
    2. I think it does matter how you define leadership. In order for people to gain knowledge from a person, they have to understand where that peroson is coming from.
